Welcome!
Edit
- It's all yours right now -- enjoy it! Once your wiki takes off, lots of people will read what you write. Right now, nobody's looking over your shoulder yet, so feel free to try things out and make mistakes.
- Make lots of short pages! The hardest thing about writing is looking at a blank page and not knowing where to start. It's a lot easier once you write down your first couple sentences. So take a deep breath, and jump in -- make ten really short pages, one right after another. Once you've started, you can build the pages up slowly, adding a little bit at a time.
- Link your pages together! Links help you and your readers get from one page to another, so whenever you mention the subject of another page, use the "Add a Link" button to make a link to that page. You should also use the front page to link to all of the most important pages on your wiki. Describe what your wiki is about on the main page, and include links to help your readers find their way around.
- Add pictures! A well-chosen picture can make a bland wiki page come to life. When you're writing a page, use the "Add a Picture" button to upload a picture from your computer onto the page.
- When you're ready -- tell your friends! Once you've started a bunch of pages, linked them together and added some pictures, you'll be ready to start showing off your wiki to the world. You probably know people who are interested in the same thing that you are, so tell your friends to check out your new site. Those are your first readers and potential contributors, so give them lots of encouragement.
A good way to stay up-to-date with the latest news and events around Wikia is to visit our Staff blog. If at any time you get stuck, feel free to write to us through our contact form -- we're happy to help!
Have fun!

Hi, please remember that if you use content from Wikipedia it needs to be properly attributed. There is a template at Template:Wikipedia already set up for you... you just need to add {{Wikipedia|Pagename}} to each article (replacing "pagename" with the name of the article on Wikipedia). Thanks -- Sannse (help forum | blog) 18:27, December 17, 2010 (UTC)
- If you have a bot that is easy to use and does that automatically, so be it. But for hundreds of articles, it just ain't going to happen. I'll put a notice on the front page of the wiki though. Also, if you know of any tool which will automatically download the entire history of articles, and import them in reasonable chunks that the server can handle, let me know. They really should have something like that by now. I'm not going to manually save the entire history of every single one of the articles, one at a time, since there are hundreds of them. - I'm sorry, but that's not acceptable. Either you attribute properly, or the articles (or the wiki as a whole) are likely to be deleted. It's your responsibility to comply with the license, and that means giving credit to the original authors as the license requires. You can use Special:Export and Special:Import to birning in the history, but that won't be correct attribution as User:Foo on Wikipedia may not be the same person as User:Foo on Wikia. There are a few bots around that you can use to help with adding the template... I don't use them, but someone on the Community Central forums should be able to help. -- Sannse

Hi!
Wanted to let you know that a handful of articles couldn't be edited, neither by bot nor manual, because the spam filter is blocking certain content in those articles thus preventing any changes. Robbins v. Lower Merion School District is one of such articles. Sovq 23:12, December 24, 2010 (UTC)
- I found one article previously with a problem, reported it, and they fixed it. Just filed another report at http://vstf.wikia.com/wiki/Spam_filter_problems#Abuse.wikia.com Thanks for the help! Dream Focus 03:31, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for moving the Nicola Raphael article over. Sadly some on wikipedia just seem to just delete anything that doesnt matter to them —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.93.176.226 (talk • contribs)
- Mindless destruction of content has been going on for awhile now at Wikipedia. Its so sad to see what its become. If I see anything I can save, or someone points it out to me, I'll import it over to the proper wikia. Dream Focus 22:45, January 10, 2011 (UTC
- Would it be worth expanding and rewording and posting to wikipedia again or do you think they will just instantly delete it?
- You could try, but they'd probably just delete it again. They dismissed my keep arguments last time. Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Suicide_of_Nicola_Raphael Please consider registering a name, and then you can sign your post with four ~ things to make your name appear. Being logged in means certain irritating in article ads won't load up(not sure if they still do that, but previously anyone not logged in had to see them). Dream Focus 20:58, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
- I'll leave it then i think. here at least it can be made the best of and people looking for the name will still find it Rr1953 23:23, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
